Surgery Today

Well after a few delays in getting the surgery done, a few days of fasting for Mom, and after much anticipation...She is now in surgery. Mom had a CT scan on her body and has no other tumors that they could see. This is good news, however, we still have to wait to see if the tumor is cancerous. I just went in to see her~She has a new Hairdo! She has half her head shaved. The Grandkids will just love her new do she said!
They found where the tumor was located and are going in today to take it out. She then will be in ICU for a few days until she is stable and then she will be moved to the Neurology wing and stay there until they release her. All the timelines depend on her contined health. She is still very positive~She will be needing her rest after surgery to recooperate and heal. We appreciate again all the love and support we have received through this trial. We will know more once she is out of surgery and in ICU. Updates will come tomorrow or maybe sooner if she comes sprinting out of there (Knowing Mom this might happen!) Please keep her in your thoughts and Prayers! Mom knows she is in good hands...The Surgeon's and the Lord's!

She enjoys reading her messages and is grateful for the LOVE and support!

With Much Appreciation

Thank you for all of your prayers, love and encouragement! Marianne appreciates it. She appreciates the comments posted and is touched by the support. The tumor itself will be checked out in the morning as she is finishing tests today. Hopefully she will get some rest after that.

The Basics

A few weeks ago Marianne started to have problems remembering the names for certain things. It was sporatic and then became more pronounced. She had issues with writing words and doing simple math or counting.
Marianne had a brain MRI and carotid artery ultrasound on Friday March 26th to find out what may have caused the memory problems. Her doctor then called her on Saturday March 27th and asked her to check herself into the hospital. Marianne (Oma) has been diagnosed with a 2.4 cm (1 inch) brain tumor in the left temporal lobe. It is located into her brain and not easily reachable. She has had some swelling which is being decreased by steroids and also has been given a anti-seizure medication. The doctor said that when the swelling goes down her memory problems will go away. She is in good spirits. Laughing and joking with everyone who pokes their head in. Most disappointed that she can not drive her car! The doctors will be in today to talk with her. They will be looking over her MRI tomorrow as well as doing another MRI to determine the course of action needed.

We ask that you please respect our families privacy and do not call the house or hospital. We will be posting updates on this blog and you will be able to follow her progress. Marianne appreciates all of your well wishes and needs to reserve her energy to fight this!
Please feel free to leave your comments and wishes here. She will be accessing this often from her room and looks forward to hearing from you!

Thank you~ The Anderson Family
